But what if you made too much brandy cream? Can you freeze brandy cream for future uses? Whipped cream is quite delicate so it doesn’t freeze so well. However, it’s quite possible to freeze brandy cream and maintain its original texture as long as it is prepped well. When kept in the fridge, brandy cream will keep fresh for a week or so. But its shelf life is extended to 4 to 6 months when kept in the freezer.

Maintaining the integrity of the ingredients is a must if you’re freezing any type of cream. The freezer temperature must be kept at a steady 0° Fahrenheit otherwise, the consistency will change drastically.

Also, please keep in mind that frozen whipped cream will no longer whip well once it’s been frozen and thawed. Something about the freezing temps alters the texture of the cream. Frozen brandy cream has a somewhat grainy texture but it’s still safe to eat and ideal for cooking or baking. Below is a step by step guide on how can you freeze brandy cream:

How to Freeze Brandy Cream?

If you’re freezing store-bought brandy cream, there is no need to transfer the leftovers to another container prior to freezing. Just stick the cream in the freezer directly, original packaging and all. Just make sure to close the opening shut to keep frost at bay. Frost will ruin the texture of the brandy cream, increasing the risk of separation between ingredients. When the ice crystals melt, the cream will become watery too.

Now for leftover or homemade brandy cream, you’ll need a rigid plastic container with a lock or airtight lid to pack the cream for freezing. Just pour the cream directly into the plastic container and then close the lid. Place the container in a resealable plastic bag. This offers added protection against freezer burns. Then, get a marker, write the storage date and stick in the freezer, right side up. Do not place the container on the side or the cream will leak out!

How to Defrost Brandy Cream?

Thawing frozen brandy cream is easy, just take the container out of the freezer and leave it to thaw in the fridge for an hour or two. But if you’re pressed for time, you can leave the cream to thaw on your kitchen counter. Just make sure you’ll use the cream right away. It’s not advisable to let any type of dairy product sit at room temperature for long. If the cream is separating or it has turned watery, go ahead and whip the cream to incorporate the ingredients.

If say, you’re serving the brandy cream on top of a freshly baked dessert, there’s no need to defrost the frozen brandy cream completely. You can top the dessert with a semi-frozen brandy cream. The heat from the baked dessert should soften the cream.

Summary

Made too much brandy cream? Thank goodness you can freeze the cream for future desserts! Now that you know how can you freeze brandy cream, there’s no need to stress about the leftover cream. You can still maximize the cream anytime!
